Renovation: Prediction Contest

We decided to start a new tradition at home today.

We decided to start a new tradition at home today.
Just because I have not been posting since a long time, doesn't mean nothing is going on in my life...In fact, A Lot Is!
We're living in a Cave right now. No TV. No Sofa. No Curtains. No Kitchen (moved into the hall's balcony). More than half of the hall is broken down. No V's room. The photos will tell you the rest...Comments [4]
This year I had a 2 week long Birthday. Aarti was flying back home a week ago, and since there was only a week to go for my B'day, A and V arranged for a mini surprise and celebration. We cut donuts (instead of cake) and they gifted me a really nice purse :)
Today, on my real B'Day I got up early in the morning and went into my room expecting a mess as usual (renovation work is going on). V had left a surprise for me by decorating the room with Golden Ribbons. I was spellbound - it looked beautiful even with all the mess. While he was still sleeping, I prepared a return surprise - breakfast in my room, it was good fun. Then came the next surprise; V had arranged for a cook for lunch and dinner. He asked me to make my 'farmaish'. Lunch was delicious Panneer Makhan. Dinner was wholesome Biryani, Veg Makhani, Dal Tadka and Paratha. Yummm!
Rupaben had also come over and we all cut cake. V and Rupaben teamed up and put cake on my face even though I had said No clearly earlier. But anyways I didn't let any of that go waste..hehe.
Great Day!
Each of my Birthdays till today has been better than the previous one with unexpected surprises.

I don’t know how this topic came up, but I happened to ask my 6 year old grandson, Hrithik; ‘do you know what is life?’
He answered: ‘Yes! I know…1 life, 2 lives, 3 lives,….6 lives, 7 lives’. After a few questions I understood that he is talking about the many lives he gets in his Nintendo games! …And we all laughed.
There’s an interesting lesson here though…that many lives, second chances, are there only in games. In real life, there’s no second chance, you get only one Life. Make the most of it.

As such, I have a lot of days (Women's Day, Birthday, Valentine's Day, and so on), but what I'm talking about now is Mother's Day!
I was waiting since a week for this day to come. Everyone was at home cos it was Sunday. I was very happy and waiting for the kids to wish me, but nothing till noon. I started preparing for lunch then, cutting vegetables, making the dough, etc. V was trying to stop me and delay the cooking and that got me irritated. Then finally he and A told me that lunch has been ordered from out, and then they wished me :). After a bit, all my favorite items from Swati Restaurant were on the table, with my favoritest one coming in last! Nice Surprise and nice day.

I planned a pre-weekend holiday for all of us, Aarti, Viram and myself. I asked them to pack what they wanted, and be ready. It was a surprise picnic....lunch on the terrace of our building (Terrace + Lunch = Trunch). They realised only when the lift started going up instead of down. Prepared the picnic basket in the morning. Climbed up at 11:30ish. Traditional floor sitting was ready because the previous day I had left mattresses to dry in the sun. Brought some quiz games, laptop, camera, chocolates, newspapers, sunglasses, and all that. It’s actually the peak of the summer season right now, and going for lunch on the ‘terrace’ may seem mad. But no, it was cool and breezy, there’s a nice shelter here, with a great view of the sea. Temperature must be about 35, but where we’re sitting, it’s like AC :)
After games, bhaguji came up with the picnic basket; hot fresh thepla and potato chips shaak, ice cold butter milk, pickle, onion, Indian sweets; and bounty chocolate for dessert.
We had so much fun that we did not read our books/newspaper bla bla that we got with us.

I read this article called 'The Magical Age' in the
newspaper today and I really liked it. While reading it, I felt quite a lot of
it was like a description of my life. It was about life in the 40s and that's
where I am right now. Instead of a midlife crisis, it's a midlife boom. Fact:
an international survey showed that most people are most happy in their 40s,
ofcourse apart from childhood life :). And don't ask me my exact age, its bad
manners.
Earlier, once you entered the 40s, would be considered middle-aged, but not
now. This is the stage where you find yourself full of life, confident and
vibrant. You spend time with yourself, thinking about yourself, living with yourself
and doing what you like the most. Maybe what you could not have done earlier.
For example, for me, in the past few years, I've done more things than ever
before; I've gone for a few treks, camps, some traveling, hobby classes, bla
bla. And I'm quite happy. This is the stage in life where I've discovered a lot
about myself, my personality, my tastes and all that.
So it's like all the past years' experiences, good, bad, sad, happy, crappy;
have molded me into what I am now, more mature, more me.
I think over the next few posts, I'm going to do some flashbacks of the past
years. What do you say?

I love my home a lot. Wherever I go, I long to get back, and I feel happy and safe once I am. There's a saying: Home is where the Heart is; and for me, it's very true :)

My son donated blood to someone who we know, and needed it for her operation. I have never donated blood. I'm scared of the syringe itself. I have cried almost everytime I've had to face an injection, and i cant imagine seeing my blood being drained out.
But it's a great thing to do. As a regular donor, you're not only giving back to society, you might also save someone's life.

Hmmm..so Viram asked me in a comment to my last post, to explain what TP is; let me explain:
I'm not doing anything right now, I'm doing TP...
